Scripts and scheduled automation

Custom scripts for file processing, data conversion and recurring system tasks.

The work

We write scripts for recurring file imports, validation, format conversion, exports and API calls. The starting point is the input and the result it should produce. A schedule, incoming file or manual action can start the process, depending on the agreed setup.

A run may finish with some records rejected or stop after changing only part of its input. We define those outcomes explicitly and record them in the run log. Missing files, invalid values and interrupted requests each need an appropriate recovery route.

Repeated or overlapping runs need attention too. The script can check prior processing and prevent duplicate actions or overwritten outputs. The handoff explains where it runs, how failures are reported and when a rerun needs review.

Technical considerations

  • The runtime needs access to the required files, services and credentials, with a clear owner for that access.
  • Scheduling should account for source availability, overlapping runs and any limit on how long processing may take.
