Software project questions.

Information about specifications, existing code, estimates, ownership and maintenance.

Do we need a detailed specification before getting in touch?

Start with the task you want the software to support or the behavior you need to change. Name the systems involved and any deadline or technical restriction. A detailed specification can be developed as part of the assignment.

Can you work on an application someone else built?

Yes. We first examine the source, setup and reported behavior to establish what can be reproduced. That review helps identify a suitable repair and any dependencies that would make the change larger.

Will we need to replace our existing software?

That depends on the requirement and the software you have. An existing vendor feature, configuration change or connection between systems may cover it. We consider those options when defining the work.

How are timing and cost agreed?

The proposal records the work, assumptions, responsibilities and commercial terms before work starts. Timing and cost follow that scope, including the access and information needed to carry it out.

Who owns the code and the accounts?

Ownership and access are set out in the project agreement. We discuss repository, hosting and third-party account responsibilities as part of planning the handoff.

How do you check an integration or migration?

We agree on representative records with the people responsible for the data. An integration is checked for field mappings and transfer behavior, including duplicates and failures. A migration also needs reconciliation with its source and an account of any rejected records.

What happens after a release?

The handoff covers setup and the agreed operating tasks. Ongoing maintenance has its own coverage, including which applications are included, how changes are requested and any response arrangements.

Can I use the project-brief worksheet without contacting you?

Yes. It runs in your browser and produces a text file you can edit. Your answers are not submitted, saved in browser storage or sent to Craftbridge Digital.
